Brighten Up Your Kitchen For Spring

It’s that time of year once again! Spring is finally in the air! And after this past winter, I think we are all ready for some warmer weather. Soon, it will be the perfect opportunity to open your windows, let in some fresh air and warm sunlight into your home. The winter season was filled with relaxed and enjoyable moments, but it is time to plan for spring! Here are some ideas to get you started.

Shine & Polish Your Stainless Steel Appliances

Your appliances can get dull and dirty during the long winter season and there may be nooks and crannies that could use some attention. You can start by cleaning your stainless steel appliances with a mild cleaner and drying them with a soft microfiber cloth.  There are also stainless steel ready to use polishing wipes available to really put on the shine. The result is polished appliances that reflect light, not fingerprints!

Lighten The Windows

During winter months, heavy window treatments in your kitchen may have provided a comfortable atmosphere. As spring gets closer, it's time for a fresh change to welcome more light into your kitchen space. Consider replacing window treatments with lighter colors and thickness, or remove them altogether. This simple update will instantly brighten up your kitchen and create a very welcoming space.

Add Brighter Colors

Introduce your kitchen to a touch of spring by adding bright and spirited colors. Whether you prefer bold and vivid pinks and greens or soft and soothing blues and yellows, some carefully placed accents can make a big impression. Adding color to your kitchen doesn't have to be expensive or permanent.

Minimal changes such as vibrant dish towels, island chairs, or window treatments can make a noticeable difference. Liven up your countertops with vibrant utensil holders, fruit bowls, small plants/flowers, or even sugar/flour containers. By incorporating splashes of color, you can transform your kitchen into a welcoming space.

Clean The Air With Plants

Bringing some fresh spring colors into your kitchen is easy with flowers or plants. Fresh flowers will add a splash of color, and creating an arrangement on your kitchen island or peninsula will serve as a dramatic centerpiece. Hanging plants by a window or placing succulents on your countertops can create a calming mood.

If you do not have a “green thumb”, consider using artificial plants that look real and require no maintenance, except some occasional dusting : )  You could also grow your favorite herbs in small containers, adding fresh greenery and some delicious flavors to your culinary delights. Incorporating plants into your kitchen decor will create a vivid and refreshing ambiance that has spring written all over it!

Add A Fruit Basket

Add a splash of color to your kitchen while keeping healthy snacks in reach by creating a countertop fruit bowl with your preferred seasonal treats. There are many choices to make this decorative piece uniquely your own. For a rustic look, consider using a wooden bowl, create a style statement with a hammered metal bowl, or add a touch of shine with a glass bowl.

Get creative with the fruit selection by going monochromatic with a single color, such as an arrangement of all oranges or green apples. For a tropical vibe, include a fun arrangement of bananas and pineapples. Mix and match different fruits to create an eye-catching variety of colors to keep your kitchen looking vibrant all season long. And the colors will change as the season goes on while you change out the fruit for fresh replacements, like many professionally arranged plant and flower gardens do.

Add Artwork

Hanging artwork in your kitchen can add personality to your space. You can create a gallery wall with a collection of prints, paintings, and photographs, or simply hang a single statement piece. Look for inexpensive prints from local artists or marketplaces. Choose artwork that complements your kitchen’s color scheme and style for creating an organized appearance.
